Cyclone Seroja Response

Cyclone Seroja struck East Nusa Tenggara on 4 April 2021. Sources reported that 181 people died and 271 were injured. 510,000 people in all were affected with 4,500 and 60,000 housing units destroyed and damaged respectively (Disaster Philanthropy), along with 4,365 public facilities. To support internally displaced persons, 126 shelters were established.

To respond to the urgent needs of the affected individuals and families, ActSEA crowdfunded US$2,105 for local NGO Simpa Sio Institute to distribute food packages (including rice, cooking oil, and other staples) to 90 families in Waiwadan Village and run an Emergency Preparedness Program for 200 children aged 6 to 12 years old in Lewolaga and Larantuka Village.
