Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia
In partnership with United Community Nepal (UniCon), EXCEL (Empowering Exchange Culture,
Collaboration, and Enhanced Learning) was a two-week initiative from 15 to 28 May 2024 that
introduced digital literacy to education sector stakeholders in Nagekeo Regency, Indonesia.
More than 100 attendees from Boawae District participated, representing representing education and
culture, communication and informatics, library and archives, village governments, school
supervisors, school principals teacher, churches, the media, parents, and local literacy community.
Workshops covered internet awareness and safety, the basics of cybersecurity, and countering
misinformation. Participatory and co-design sessions were also conducted with mothers and youth to
initiate collaborative projects and empower them with new skills to support the acceleration of
digital integration into education.
Following the workshops, ActSEA created a WhatsApp group with school principles and teachers to
coordinate and provide consultations on their digital literacy efforts.
